Cool Night Sky

Last night I was laying back in the spa, trying to ease my sore muscles. Our sky up here is beautiful. It is clear and you can see the stars quite well, even with the moon waxing.

As I laid there going all "Gumby," a star moved quickly across the sky going from south to the north, like it had somewhere to go. At first, I thought it may be a satellite. After the third one, I knew it must be meteors passing by, but not low enough to leave "skid marks". A little while later, two meteors skidded across, but they were heading north to south! Weird! A few more slow ones went by from the south to the northerly direction. They were like tiny fireflies puttering along. Before I went to bed, another meteor skidded over, from west to east. The ability to see this is wonderful.

While watching them, we laughed that the meteors may actually be "A-lee-ums," (as our grandson calls them). They are jockeying for position to the next event at the Big Monkey Farm, like people arriving early for a good spot at a drive-in theater. (How many people remember those these days?) What does an alien do if they get the Bubba of Space in his jacked-up space ship parking in front of him? laughing....

I am a bit ecclectic. This blog is whimsical musings about my various interests and sharing things I am learning. If anything, it will be a good sleeping pill, no?

  1. Could they be communication satelites? I don't see them often, because I don't know where to look but one dusky evening a passerby said that's what we were seeing and that he always saw that one swing by about that time in the evening. They're fairly low and there are a lot of them.
